Draft notice: This is a working draft prepared to give GoatReelz a real, operative Privacy Policy rather than none at all. It has not been reviewed by an attorney. Because this platform collects data about minors, it should be reviewed by counsel for COPPA, FERPA (where school rosters are involved), and Mississippi-specific requirements before GoatReelz relies on it in production.

1. What we collect

  • Account info you give us: name, email, account type, school/club affiliation.
  • Content you post: video, captions, profile photos.
  • Usage data: likes, follows, shares, saves, and other engagement on the platform.
  • For directory ("seed") profiles: name, school, sport, and ranking data sourced from public high school athletics rankings and coverage — never anything non-public, and never contact information.
  • For minors whose accounts reach monetization features: a record that parental/guardian consent was obtained, kept separately from public profile data.

2. How we use it

We use your data to operate the platform: showing your content and profile to other users, ranking the Weekly Top 10, running moderation, enabling NIL-compliance checks against your state's rules, and — only once eligible and consented — facilitating sponsor badges, deals, and payouts. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Children's privacy

GoatReelz is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13. Directory profiles for athletes who may be minors are built only from information that is already public (a school's own published roster or rankings coverage) — we do not collect anything additional about a minor unless and until a parent or guardian claims that profile and provides consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account directly, contact us and we will remove it.

4. Who we share data with

We use third-party infrastructure to run GoatReelz, and your data passes through them as part of normal operation: Supabase (database, authentication), Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare Stream (video hosting for uploaded content), and YouTube (for embedded, not re-hosted, highlight videos). Each handles data under its own privacy terms. We share sponsor-facing data (e.g., an athlete's public stats and engagement) only as needed to support deals you've opted into, never behind your back.

5. Your choices

You can edit or delete Your Content, and request deletion of your account, at any time. Deleting your account removes your posted content and personal data from public view; some records (e.g., those needed for NIL/tax compliance) may be retained as required by law.

6. Security

We use industry-standard practices (encrypted connections, row-level access controls on our database, restricted admin access) to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
